Understanding Minor Hand Fractures: Healing & Recovery

Question
sorry to bother you still.  "...a small fracture", can I assume that it's not a "bad" fracture and possibly won't take too long to heal?  Am I just being too optimistic? Anything I can do to speed up the healing process if that's the case.  thanks again.

-----Question-----
Not sure if you can help.  I punched something hard a couple of weeks ago.  swelling for the first couple of dys, no bruising.  I was in pain but it subsided.  I had xray which showed no fractures r breaks. The swelling has gone away but I see  slight bump where it hurts.  the pain is 1 1/2 inch above the wrist following the line from my ring finger, as if right on that tendon/ligament or whatever.  I only hurts to grip hard, or move fingers from side to side, or with pressure.  do you have any idea wht it might be?  I haven't been to a specialist yet.....waiting to get the xrays from my GP. should i be concerned.
-----Answer-----
I would not be surprised if you had a small fracture that was missed on the initial xrays.... doing an additional xray 20 days after the injury may show it up better.  When you say above the wrist, you mean toward the finger, I assume and that is the typical area for a "boxer's fracture."  hope this helps...

Answer
good assumption--- if it was hard to see, then alignment is good and it should heal.  The fingers should align equally on both hands, so if they look the same, the only thing to do is wait it out and it will be another 2-3 weeks before most of the pain is gone
