Swollen Lymph Node in Neck: Causes, Symptoms & When to See a Doctor
QuestionHI. I have a question about what i think is a swollen lymph node in my neck. It is on my right side under my cheek bone and I have had it for about 3 days now. Sometimes is it tender to the touch but not always and it seems to change in size as well. I was told your lymph nodes swell when you have an infection but that i do not at least that i know of. Although i did have a fever about a week ago that lasted 2 days. I am what i think a healthy college student. My question is should i be alarmed and is this cancer? That is what someone told me it could be and my mind cant rest now!!! THANKS
AnswerIt sounds like a swollen salivary or parotid gland which can usually be relieved with tart chewing gum or candy but if it persists see your doctor. The good news is that cancer is unlikely since it comes and goes but call your doctor who knows you best
