Zyprexa and Movement Disorders: A Doctor's Perspective

Question
Hi Dr. Borucki

I wanted to know if you ever heard of Zyprexa being used in a movement disorder patient. The patient has irregular jerks and movements from the arm and such (diagnosed with possible dyskinesia). I kno the side effects can actually worsen the situation and cause other conditions.

Thank You.

Answer
zyprexa is a major sedative and isn't used for movement disorders... it is in a class that causes them, although these newer ones are much less likely to cause the movement disorders than the older ones like thorazine or haldol... but no, I don't know if any use like that
