Understanding Nausea with Diverticular Disease: Causes & Relief
QuestionAfter months of various tests, a CT scan has revealed that I have diverticular disease of the sigmoid colon. My doctor has not offered any medication or advice about this condition, so I have read up on it and have upped my fibre intake and am drinking a lot more water. This has helped a lot with cramps, diahorrea etc. But I get frequent bouts of nausea at any time of day or night, whether I have eaten or not. It lasts from several seconds to a couple of minutes, then just goes. I rarely vomit with it. This has been happening for months. My mouth fills and overflows with saliva when it happens, which is an average of 6-7 times per month. I have kept a log of foods eaten and times of attacks etc., but there is no pattern. Is this a symptom of the diverticular disease, and do you have any suggestions what I can do to ease or stop the attacks? My doctor seems to have no idea and also seems disinterested, but I am fed up with never feeling entirely well. My age is 55 if that is of any significance. Thankyou.
AnswerIs this a symptom of the diverticular disease? No, it is not.
Do you have any suggestions what I can do to ease or stop the attacks? Yes stop the fiber and cut the sugar, gluten and omega 6 plant oils out of your diet and add magnesium oxide 250 mg tabs 4 times a day if OK with your doctor.
