QuestionQUESTION: Hi,
I hope that this is something you can help with. I had an abortion May 4 2007. After that, my cycles have been every 20, 21, 22 days. Now I dont know if this is my new "regular" cycle or not. This month, I am at day 24 and have no period. I dont know if that means I am "late" according to my last periods or "not late" according to my periods before the abortion.
Do you have any information you can give me about this? It means a lot to me to know my cycle and this has me really confused.
Thank you so much for your help,
Katie
ANSWER: periods are often messed up temporarily after an abortion... are you sure you haven't gotten pregnant again? It sometimes takes a couple of months to reset the cycle and make sure that you use proper protection to prevent getting pregnant again. But, it isn't unusual to be a little late following a preg termination.

QUESTION: Actually, Im NOT sure that Im not pregnant again... Im worried. So it it usual to have short cycles as well as long cycles after an abortion? Can one person have both? Im scared to take a pregnancy test at this point...Im not sure if Im late or not...Im late based on my periods since the abortion, but not based on my normal cycles before the abortion. It confuses me.
Thank you for your help!
Answerwell, take the preg test with a first morning urine sample... also, if the periods don't regulate, get on birth control pills to make the period regulate.... it is very hard to figure out what the cycle is doing... some bleeding may not be a period, just overflow bleeding from a missed ovulation.
