QuestionQUESTION: Hi, I'll be happy to get some advice from you! I'd an abortion 5 years ago. All this period I've violation of menstrual cycle ( every 14 days dark colored clots ). The doctor appointed dydrogesteron, but when I'm concluding the course of treatment all symptoms are come back. I've made much analyses on hormones, ultrasonic research but no results. May be you know some more researches I need to do in me situation? Thanks.
ANSWER: Hi, Lera,
Obviously, only a doctor who can examine you and run tests can finally decide what the real problem is. I can only suggest possibilities. I would have to be able to examine you and test you to do any more than that.
A drug like dydrogesteron will only treat symptoms. It won't get to the bottom of the problem. This is obvious because when you discontinue the drug, the problem returns.
The main thing that comes to mind is that when they did the abortion, they injured your uterus so that there is low level bleeding all the time. Dark blood is old blood. The clots also tend to indicate it's bleeding not related to your period. The cervix opens during two times of the month. One is at menstruation, and the other is at ovulation. It seems to me that it must be because the cervix is open that you get the clots. When it is closed, they'll just accumulate.
I could be completely wrong, but that's sure the first thing I'd ask about. Ultrasound isn't all that great. It may be the only way they'll find such low level damage is to do a laparoscopy. Because the cervix provides an opening to the inside of the uterus, it is possible you wouldn't even need a small incision, and the device could be inserted through the cervix when it is open.
Another possibility is that your hormones are not balanced. This drug is given to correct a progesterone deficiency. In order to get to the bottom of this possibility, you will need to have your hormones tested. Since they have already been tested, it may be they didn't test them enough, or that you got inaccurate results, or that rules out THIS possibility. Abortion can cause a serious disruption of hormones. However, there are other things you might be doing that would aggravate the problem. For example, if you are not getting any animal fats in your diet, eventually your body will stop making the hormones needed to keep your body functioning properly. Animal fats include cholesterol. Your body NEEDS cholesterol. If you don't get it from your diet, your body makes it. But if it's not getting cholesterol from your diet, eventually it will exhaust its ability to maknufacture it. There are also other deficiencies if a person is eating a vegetarian diet. So you should have your hormones tested, and you should take a look at your diet. Why this problem would suddenly start just after you have an abortion is a bit of a mystery. Progesterone is needed to maintain pregnancy, so evidently you had plenty at the time, or if you didn't, the abortion was unnecessary because you would have miscarried.
Another thing to look at is whether or not you are taking mifepristone or methotrexate. These suppress progesterone production and could result in a progesterone deficiency. You may be taking either drug for some other problem. Check into this as well. Obviously, if this is the case, you are starting down a road where a doctor will give you one dangerous drug for a health problem, and when you have side effects, he'll add a second drug that will also cause side effects, so he'll add a third drug. You can get into a heap of trouble doing things this way, so it is best to avoid it. Look for natural alternatives for your original problem. If you let me know what it is, I can do some research.
I hope this helps.
Don't give up. Find a doctor who is willing to do more than just give you a drug that masks symptoms. Let me know what you find out.

QUESTION: Hi, Pat G! At first wanna thank you for your answer. Next days I'm going to hand over an analysis on a cholesterol. Let me ask your opinion about laparoscopy. Last year I've an Endometriosic cyst of my right ovary. After dydrogesteron during last 6 months I accepted NORETHISTERONE and my cyst became from d 1,5 inch to 0,9 inch. Now I stop to get pills and worry about increase of size again. In last case I need to do laparoscopy or cavernous operation. We haven't laparoscopy in our town and it disturbs me to do it in other city. Also I hear about possibility regress of cysts after it. What do you think, tell me please?
AnswerHi, Lera,
It sound like you have some additional problems that tie into this situation. This makes it even more important that you work with a doctor who will persist until the causes are found and corrected. There are natural methods of dealing with some of these problems, but you first have to know what the problems are. I can understand your not wanting to go to another city for laparoscopy. You will have to make some decisions. If you are willing to put up with the problems you currently have, you can refuse certain treatment. If you are not willing, you will have to pursue some sort of solution. I can't tell you what choice you should make. That is up to you. But I do understand that cysts can be a troublesome problem. I have never personally experienced them, though family members have. The result is that I had no reason to do any significant research on them.
You might want to mention pelvic inflammatory disease to your doctor, in particular. This is a term that really describes a symptom, but there are known causes. Sometimes they can't find out why, and sometimes they can. But it can cause a lot of problems, and mentioning it may give the doctor some additional ideas of what to investigate.
You're welcome. I hope you are able to restore your health. Keep in touch.
