Tetanus Shot After Nail Puncture: How Soon to Seek Medical Care?
QuestionMY DAUGHTER IS 15 SHE STEPPED ON A RUSTY NAIL OUTSIDE AND WE CAN'T REMEMBER WHEN SHE LAST HAD A TETNUS SHOT. HOW LONG CAN SHE SAFELY WAIT BEFORE GETTING ONE. SHE WANTS TO GO TO THE DR TOMORROW BUT I THINK SHE NEEDS TO GO TO THE ER TONIGHT BUT IT IS A 3 HOUR WAIT
Answershe is prob OK, since she is up to date on immunizations, she has probably had about 5 or 6 tetanus shots thru the years, so her immunity is probably OK.... if you feel she must get one, it should be given within 3 days or so.... it doesn't have to be immediate....
