Fertility Concerns After Mirena & Ejaculation Issues: Understanding Your Chances

Question
My gf and I are thinking about having a kid. She had the mirena put in around Oct or Nov of last year and had it for 7 months then got it removed since it made her bleed... was like she had a 7 month long period. No kids before and I've never had kids. And long story short it's extremely hard for me to ejaculate (I have to masturbate after sex and then go inside her). I'm wondering what are the chances of us having a kid? And could she be less fertile because of the merina? I heard that it can cause infertility. And since she got it she's been having more white discharge. She usually got that after she had sex but now it's all the time. She's 23 and I'm 24. And anything we can do to be more fertile?

Answer
Hello Russell from the U.S.,

The effects of Mirena should wear off after 2-3 months, or as soon as one month, after the removal.  The ovaries should then return to their normal function and your GF should be able to get pregnant. If she is not having normal regular cycles, then she needs to see someone, preferably a fertility specialist, for an evaluation of her hormonal function.

In terms of your inability to ejaculate with vaginal stimulation, that could be a potential problem.  Your girl fiend's vagina may not be tight enough to give you the stimulation that you need, but the method you are using would work as well as long as the penis is deep within the vagina when you ejaculate.  You might want to have your GF practice kegel exercises (tightening and relaxing the vaginal muscles) to make them firmer.  Then when you have intercourse she can tighten around you, which might make the stimulation better.
