Irregular Periods & Ovarian Cysts: Causes, Symptoms & What to Do

Question
I have been on the contraceptive pill Microgynon for 5 years except for a short break 4 years ago when I fell pregnant. I have been with my current partner for 3 years and decided in March this year we would try for a baby so I came off the pill. However, for 16 months prior to me coming off the pill my periods started to become irregular and could be from 24-53 days. My doctor changed my pill but that had no effect and sent me to a gynocologist. I had blood tests for a full blood count and thyroid test which came back normal, I had an ultrasound and internal scan which showed 3 cysts on my left ovary. As yet, we have been unable to conceive and wonder whether the cysts could explain the irregualr periods and the lack of conception? My partners doctor has told him to return next month for a sperm count if we have not conceived by then but I just want to know if the cysts could be causing me problems and whether there are any more tests I can ask for? My doctor has said he will test me for infertility after my partner has received his test results but just want to try and find an explanation for my irregualr periods as they were regualr before going on the pill but became irregualr while I was still on it. Many thanks

cj;

in fact bith-control pill are just hormones. due to you being on them for a long period of time,makes me believe you had the cysts while on the pills.

there alot of things they can do to reduce the cysts. cysts are just fluid[pus]filled. sometimes going on hormones[birth control pills]will help reduce the cysts. most like your periods are irregular from the cysts,which can be very painful,it the break.
maybe you should get a 2nd opinion,from another doctor;
