QuestionHello, and thank you in advance. My issue is that previously my hands were falling asleep at night and sometimes when I raised them above my head for any length of time. Now, my arms and hands are falling asleep, mostly my hands primarily the middle, index finger and thumb. They are falling asleep as I type this. My arms are feeling achy, not in the muscle, more of an internal feeling generally between the shoulder and elbow.
Answerif both hands do it at the same time, it is probably a neck problem (disc pressing on the spinal cord) if it happens sometimes on R and sometimes on L, it could be at the neck or the shoulder or the wrist, more likely the shoulder. First, I would try plain motrin type drugs; then probably need a medical evaluation- sometimes at that point I may try steroids for 2 weeks, or get nerve conduction studies and find out exactly where the nerve is being pressed on.... hope this helps...
