QuestionI'm 16 and 25 weeks pregnant, i gotta go back to school till i am 35 weeks what should i do if i go into premature labour.
Also, what will happen in the DR will i have to take my own underwear off or will the midwife just do it for me?
AnswerChloe,
If you start having what feels like menstral cramps, you are having contractions. Some contractions are normal, but you shouldn't have more than 7 in an hour. If you are at school and feel cramping, you should go to the school nurse so you can lie down and count contractions. If you have more than 7 in an hour, call someone to come get you so you can go to the doctor or midwife. There are going to be lots of times you will have to undress completely for the midwife to examine your cervix ( that's the opening to your uterus). If you have a normal pregnancy around 34-35 wks you will have a pelvic exam to see if you are dilated. They will give you private time to undress and put on a cover or gown. If ever in doubt of what you are having done that day, just ask, "Should I take everything off?" When you go into labor, you will again be given some private time to undress, underwear, bra, everything.
If I can give you some advice to read up on childbirth. Take a childbirth class so you have some idea what will happen to you. Watch "A Baby Story" on TLC to show you as well. Ask questions whenever you are in doubt. There's nothing to be embarrassed about. Good luck!!
