Persistent Illness in Postpartum: Seeking Medical Advice for Daughter

Question
Dear sir, Madam I live in england while my 38 yr old daughter lives in boston usa and has done for the past 10 yrs. She had a baby 6 months ago And when the baby was 2 months old she started to become ill.. First symptoms were light headidness.. almost feeling  drunk.. They checked her for an ear infection and meniers... All was clear .. Then she started to feel nauseus..and sickly without ever being sick...to cut a long story short .. she has had a brain scan... A full  body scan...the blood work she has had done in uncountable.. She had been admitted to the emergency room no less than 10 times in 4 months Where they put her on an iv drip.. to control the  sickness..The iv  drip  does work and take the sickness away..but is very short lived... She has been told they have done everything .. and possibly she was seliac.. or  has an illness called pots... And now they have also said  she possibly has meniers... She is on 4 different  drugs for her sickness.. one is called zofran...She said it takes the sickenss away for a while then the sickness  returns. Im really worries as yesterday the 14th of september 2009 she  called me  and said  she could not spend the rest of her life  feeling so ill.. she has lost a huge  amount of weight  say 20 pounds. Last week she had a tilt table test.. and is waiting for the results.. Im so so worried about her..It appears it is a mystery illness which cant be solved...Do you think  she could have caught an infectious desease from somewhere or somebody?..Heres hoping you could shed some light on the situation ... Regards Joan Pearson.

Answer
I assume she is at a good center.... I would consider having her go to the Mayo Clinic or Cleveland Clinic.... this is more likely a metabolic problem (as opposed to an infection) and it may take some testing for rarer illnesses and she would be best served at one of the big referral centers.
