QuestionDr
I am 53. My weight has remained the same for the last ten years but my lower abdomen has swollen considerably since then. Not fat, just hard. I used to think I had I.B.S. or celiac disease, but except for the distension I dont have the other symptoms.
It has occured to me I might have a swollen prostate or bladder, which pushes up on my belly. I have had two bladder infections in the last few years, and like most guys my age make frequent trips to the bathroom. I also have male 'performance' issues.
What do you think? Also, does swa palmetto work for this? Thanks!
Answerthe lower abd swelling, could easily be simple weight gain.... we lost muscle mass which is heavier than fat so you may be trading one for another. The bladder / prostate will not cause any visible changes.
With the prostate issues and male issues, it is worth visiting the doctor and getting a physical.
Saw Palmetto does work in about 60% of guys with mild prostate issues... it is worth a try for a month..... but if it doesn't work by then, I wouldn't keep it up.
