QuestionHi,
I had an abortion 2 weeks ago. It was the hardest decision I had to make but I
had too much pressure put on me and I took the wrong decision. I am sorry
for what I did and I want a second chance: I want to get pregnant. I was 10
weeks when I had the abortion. Do you think is safe if I get pregnant right
away? My doctor advised me to wait 3 months but I don't want to wait that
long.
Thank you
AnswerDear Ramona,
You might want to wait until you get one period before you start trying, but you shouldn't need to wait for three months. If you don't get pregnant right away it is not from the abortion - sometimes when you are trying it doesn't happen exactly like you plan it - so be patient and enjoy the process.
It's important that you look at your decisions in a positive light. We all make mistakes. The important thing is to learn from them. You learned something about yourself, your relationship, and that you really do want to be pregnant. It will make you appreciate your pregnancy more now that you are ready to be pregnant, instead of feeling conflicted and negative.
I hope this is helful,
Doctor Joan
