QuestionI had unprotected sex on 5 and 7th march 2011. I then had sex again on the 10th march but decided to take the morning after pill 4 hours after as I had beebread offered a new job and didn't want to be pregnant that soon. However I have just done a pregnancy test and it is positive. Was I pregnant already from the first 2 times. My lmp was the 24th february so I usually ovulation on day 12-13. Which would be closer to the first sexual instances. I'm confused as I thought the morning after pill stops fertilization and or implantation. What sexual encounter would I most likely of fallen pregnant on
AnswerHello, Lissa,
It is unlikely you are pregnant from any of those dates, because a pregnancy test will usually not be positive that early. The morning after pill could confuse the test, possibly. You could have been fertile any of those days, but probably not real close to ovulation.
The morning after pill doesn't always work. If it prevents implantation, it is a very early abortion.
I can understand your not wanting to be pregnant so soon after starting a new job. However, abortion is very dangerous, and the morning after pill is also toxic. You would have several months on the job to prove that you are a good employee before most people would know you are pregnant. Heck, I pregnant while I was going to school, and I was able to fool one of my teachers for five months! I just wore slightly looser clothing.
Which time you had sex might not be of very much importance unless you had sex with different men. Is that the case? If you are wondering who the father might be, you'll probably have to wait and see. In the meantime, it is best not to have sex. You shouldn't have to live in fear of being pregnant. "Protection" doesn't work well, either.
If you are pregnant, there are organizations that are willing to help you with whatever problems you are facing. Let me know what country you are in, and I will see what I can find out for you. They can even help you with the problem of keeping your job. If you start to have problems with morning sickness, there are remedies that will help. Sipping ginger tea is helpful. Also make sure you are getting adequate protein and vitamins. That can help tremendously. If you are a vegetarian, you will need to get some animal food (milk, cheese, eggs) in your diet to help prevent malnutrition. If you simply cannot control morning sickness, the doctor can give you a prescription that will help. If you are not having problems with morning sickness, there is really no reason why you can't work. Just get some good prenatal care.
Please don't consider getting an abortion. An abortion ALWAYS harms a woman's body, and sometimes it is severe. And an abortion can harm your future children. And too many women who get an abortion lose interest in life, and that could be very costly to your ability to keep your job as well. It isn't worth it, and you deserve better. I'll be here for you any time you need to talk, and I would love it if you would keep in touch. Please take care of yourself and stay safe.
