Delayed Period After Breastfeeding: What to Expect

I breast fed for the first 2-3 months. My son is now 6 months. I have not gotten a period yet. Should I be alarmed?

Breastfeeding can delay a mother's period. It is not uncommon for a breastfeeding mother to not have a period while she's breastfeeding or even a little bit afterwards. However, you have not been breastfeeding for 3 months now so your period should be on its way. If you have been having unprotected sex, I recommend that you take a pregnancy test. If you do not get a period in another month, I recommend scheduling an appointment with your OB-GYN.
