QuestionMy husband has black hair and hazel eyes, mine is blond and blue eyes. my mom
was blond with blue eyes. dad was black hair and brown eyes. My husbands
family 3 brothers all black hair , dad black and blue eyes his mom dark
brown and his sister a redhead. Why do both my sons have lt brown hair and
brown eyes?? I thought for sure they would be blond and blue eyes?
AnswerUnless you have dominant blonde/blue genes (an unusual mutation usually found in Norwegian and Swedish families), your genes need to join up with a second set of blonde/blue genes from your husband in order for you to have blonde/blue children. Otherwise, the dominant brown/brown genes will be what shows, even though your sons will have inherited recessive blonde/blue genes from you. Since everyone in your husband's family is dark except for his sister, the chances of him having his own recessive set of blonde/blue genes is possible but slight.
