Answer
Hi Jackeline,

I wish I could answer your question, but genetics is a very tricky thing. Even if you could describe all of your relatives and your husband's to me, there's no way to say what your baby will look like. Genetics is mostly about probability, but as you know, that just means "what is likely to happen" based on numbers, not what actually WILL happen. Many couples have found that their child more closely resembled a cousin, or great-grandfather or even an aunt or uncle than their own mother or father or grandparents!

If you are really curious, you could ask an actual geneticist to give you the statistical probability of what your baby will look like but again, it would only be a guess based on the genes which make up your relatives' hair, skin and eye colors. The fact that you have so many different genetic characteristics in your family means that possibility of combinations is much greater, and harder to determine.

In my own family, we've been surprised by genetics. My mother and I have brown eyes, and my husband and my father have green eyes, and yet two of our children have blue eyes and two have hazel eyes. Stastically, it was much more probable that our children should have had brown eyes, since that is dominant, yet after 4 children....still no brown eyes...so you never know!
