AnswerHi Jenny,
If you are opposed to termination, tell him right from the start that you are pregnant and are not considering termination.
Yes, there are risks, but they are similar to the risks you had with your last pregnancy.
A study that looked at the risks after multiple cesareans (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16738145) found that after five cesareans, placenta accreta was present in 2.33% vs 0.24% for a first cesarean.
Hysterectomy was required in 3.49% of 5th cesareans vs. 0.65% of first cesareans.
Adhesions are much more common after 3 or more cesareans.
And although the risks are higher, most women do not experience these complications.
The risks for the baby include being twice as likely to experience respiratory distress at birth as well as twice the risk of developing asthma by age eight.
Because it's been three years since your last cesarean, your uterus has had time to heal, which is good news as far as lessening the risk of complications with this pregnancy.
I hope that your pregnancy goes well.
Sincerely,
