Understanding Comedonecrosis: A Guide for Family & Next Steps
QuestionMy 40 year old sister just received the result of her breast bioposy - comedonecrosis. My sister was successfully treated with chemo/radition at age 15 for Hodkins disease. 5 years ago she had her thyroid removed as a result of thyroid cancer that was thought to be caused from the radiation treatment used to treat Hodgkins.
Last night she received a message that she had the above disease. Can you explain the process to required to determine the stage? (not sure that is even a factor) and then treat this disease. Our mother died at age 43 (26 years ago) of breast cancer which spread to bone. Many thanks in advance
AnswerThe information so far received by me does not allow me to evaluate her stage in ANY way. Please supply the following information and I will probably be able to inform you with regards to what more that needs to be done (all reports can be copied here): 1. Her full pathology report. 2. Any cytology report. 3. Any mammography report. 4. Any breast ultrasound scan report. 5. Any breast MRI scan report. It is possible that her thyroid cancer was caused by her previous radiation therapy, but we can never be sure of that.
