IUD Experience: Benefits, Pain & Period Changes - Patient Review

I am thinking of getting an iud and am wondering how you like it compared to the other methods of birthcontrol you have been on.

My IUD is the best birth control that I have been on by far. Be warned that the insertion is very painful, make sure to have someone go with you so that they can drive you home. For about 12 hours you will be pretty sore and have lots of cramps. After that you should be okay. I have had an IUD for a year and a half and now my periods are so light that it's no more than a heavy discharge. I highly advise that you get one if you can!
