Birth Control & Accutane: A Pro-Life Perspective
QuestionI am also pro-life but I am on birth control only for one reason and soon to be off!!! the reason I am on birth control is cause I am on Accutain I am sure you know what that is but if you don't it is for server acne, I dont want to be responsible for anything happing to a beutiful baby while I am undergoing this treatment plus to get this medication you have to get on the pill, but any other time I am as is my husband aginst the pill of course! Anyway all I wanted to know is i am taking a 28 day cycle pills and some how thought it was time to get the pills refilled and was ready to start a new pack! Anyway I went to the pharmacy got my pills and started them then I found my last months pill pack and relized I had 4 pills left you know the ones they say are sugar pills or blanks so basicly I ended the last week of the pill pack shy of 4 days and I am now 2 1/2 weeks still on my period which it slowed up last friday but today now wensday has started back a regular flow I know my pill mix up caused this but will it streighten up as I continue with the pills? I officially stop my accutain Feb. 9th and can stop the pill all together the first of march I am just wondering if it will mess up my cycle after I stop and cause any fertility problems from me starting the blue regular pills earlier than I was supposed too? thanks for your time and even though your prolife as I am, I am for the pill in instences like mine being on a medication that could deform and kill a baby who in the long run would suffer and then parish anyway! when I found out what this medication would do to a fetus I took another look at how the benifit of the pill is usefull in some rare cases like taking a medication that would deform and kill an unborn child and no means of surgery or medical care could prevent or save the unborn baby!
Thanks for your time
Have a great day!
Lisa
AnswerAbstinence is better in instances such as yours, because the pill can cause an abortion without you even being aware you are pregnant.
The pill also interfers with your cycles and sometimes they do not return to normal afterwards. Many times they do, so you can only wait and see what happens after you stop taking these two drugs.
