Birth Control Pill Mix-Up: What To Do & Potential Risks

Question
I've been under the impression that you should take your birth control pills in the order they are labelled on your pack. I took the third week instead of the first week, then realized my mistake and switched back to the first week. What should I do? Will this affect the efficiency of my pill? Could I get pregnant if I do this?

Answer
You can't undo what you've done.  I'm not aware that the pills are different during the different weeks of the package, except for the last week, which may be innert.  I don't know about your pack or your brand.  Back up protection would be a good idea when ever you make a mistake about the way you take your pills.
