Navigating the Conversation: Asking Your Mother About Birth Control

Question
I need help. How do I ask my mom to put me on birth control? Im scared to ask her because i know shes going to yell at me about it because shes like that what should i do?

Answer
I guess if you think you are old enough to be on birth control because you think you are old enough to have sex, then you have to be old enough to advocate for yourself with your mother.  If you can't do that, then maybe you should rethink your choices.

Sex makes babies, even with birth control especially for younger girls who don't have good routines and expectations.  What are your plans if you get pregnant?  That's what your mother will want to know.  Who will take care of you and the baby?  Are you willing to put the baby up for adoption or keep it and raise it?  Can you make a living and take care of a baby at the same time?  Boys who make babies with young girls are not going to stick around to help raise it.

Is abortion the choice you would make?  Even if that means killing the unborn child who would be your mother's grandbaby?  These are all the things you need to think about and be prepared to explain how you will handle with your mother.

In addition to these considerations, there are the STD's that abound when young girls think they can trust the guys they meet at parties or school.  They can cause infertility and other serious problems.

So, if you know the answers to these questions and you feel you can explain them without a yelling match with your mother, then maybe you are old enough to get on Birth Control but you must be prepared and logical and careful and probably the best idea is to avoid sex until you get married.
