Birth Control Side Effects & Alternatives: A Personal Story
QuestionI have had problems with alot of different birth controls in the past the combined pill with progesterone and estrogen(turned me into a crazy depressed mess also gave me my first child), the mini pill(still crazy and depressed and now have two children), mirena(very painful... still depressed and crazy). The depression and mood swings did not start until I started the birth control(3 yrs). I love my children but do not want anymore right now. My Dr refuses to take out the mirena until I find a birth control to replace it. I have spent hours online and talking to friends on different types of Birth control but i am completely lost all of them seem to have depression as a side effect. I am trying to find a more natural birth control. Do you have any recommendations... I am sooo lost.
AnswerHello Aimee,
Thanks for your question. I think it is best to get off hormonal birth control methods. I do not think that is healthy. But as for your doctor, he can not tell you to keep the Mirena in until you find another method of birth control. You have the control and power in your own health care. I would strongly recommend Natural Family planning. You can go to allexperts.com and find the expert lady in that subject. Or do a search online. Your doctor may not agree but like I said, it's your right to do what you want with your own body. I would not use any kind of birth control that would require a doctor to have control. Sorry but I am really adamant about this subject.
Let me know what you find out-you can email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com anytime. OH, go to http://www.allexperts.com and click on health/fitness. Then go to women's health. Then find Natural Family Planning.
Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
