Understanding Birth Control and Cervical Mucus: A Comprehensive Guide

Question
This is going to be a long one, bare with me. I was on birth control for approx three years, and i had one month rep left but in between all this I moved away and didnt make it to the doctors for a pap test in time and i didnt get any re prescriptions. So i was forced to not be on the pill anymore. Im going to go back on, i have a doctors appoint soon. BUT, when i first read about birth control and how it works, it said something about it builds a thicker mucus and blocks the semen from reaching your ovaries or what ever. AND my question is...I have been off birth control for 2 weeks now and this morning when I went to the washroom and wiped a thick, jelly, clear and sum streaks of white mucus stuff was on the toilet paper. I wiped more than once and there was alot of it. Could this be the mucus build up from my birth control pill coming out of me? Or is it something else?

Answer
Hi Dalice,
I'm not a medical doctor so I advise you to check with your physician when you have your appointment. I don't really know what this could be, maybe a sexually transmitted disease. I don't know if you are sexually active. It could be some kind of infection or is it possible you are pregnant? It is impossible for me to diagnose this so please check it out. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com to let me know what happens. I'm really concerned. Talk soon.
