Prolonged Periods on Birth Control: What to Expect & When to Seek Help
QuestionI'm 16 & extremely active. I got put on birth control a month ago because my period was really irregular. When i first got on it I was emotional & crying every night for the first week for the weirdest reasons & was really depressed (I'm not like that all normally!!). As soon as my emotions finally got back to normal..i spotted for about 5 days and then began my period & am now on my third week of my period..i'm taking the placebo pills right now so i understand that i'm gonna have it but i was just curious if when i start my 2nd pack if you think my period will finally end & if i'll be all crazy emotional again?
AnswerHi Mallory,
I can't predict how you will react from the pills this month. Sometimes a woman will be emotional constantly from the hormones in the pills. And sometimes you will get back to normal and get accustomed to the hormones. But if you don't need the pill for sexual activity I would not recommend it for regulating your period. I'm not a medical doctor though but maybe you could get a 2nd opinion. Does your mother know about this? You can email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and let me know what happens or we can talk more.
Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
