Understanding PMDD: Severe PMS Symptoms & What to Do

Question
Ok here's the deal, Ive been keeping track of my period since I was 12. And Ive always noticed that I would be Overwhelmingly SLEEPY the week b4and during my period. to the point where I fell asleep on a FINAL. I'm the worlds MEANEST WOMEN. and will Fight mother Teresa and I'm a really nice person normally. i cant think straight, my knees hurt, I get really cold and a CRAZY OUTRAGEOUS APPETITE. Now I thought this was normal PMS and every women went through it. But mine is worse than my sisters, and I HAVE THREE SISTERS. Whats even more disturbing is that Since I haven't had sex in almost two years, ITS  GOTTEN Worse. I thought about trying birth control, but the side effects of gaining weight scared me and Since I'M NOT HAVING SEX, it would be pointless. But now I've been hearing things about people taking birthcontrol just to control it. Is this true. Do I even have PMDD? I think I do. And I NEED HELP. its affecting my school work, cause I always seem to have test right b4 my period. And I avoid discipline my four year old at all, because I'm not in the right frame of mine. Id appreciate ANY ADVICE.

WORRIED yet hopeful

Answer
Hi hormone girl,
Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical doctor so I suggest that you talk to yours about this question. I personally don't recommend the birth control pill because of the side effects and risks. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for straightening out your period cycle. So anyway, I think you should check with your doctor. I could do some more research on this if you would like to email me and let me know. DCHERYL51@yahoo.com so hope to hear from you soon.
