Ortho Evera Patch Effectiveness & Water Exposure - Patient Experience

Question
Right now i am in my second month of ortho evera.  THe patches seem to be generally sticking well but the other day i had a bubble bath and the patch was almost completely off.  When i was all dried off the patch reattached but i am wondering if it is still effective.  the information that my gyneclogist gave me said that it was safe in water.  from now on do you think i would have to avoid things like swimming or baths to my patch free week and do you think that my current patch is still working?

Answer
I think that this is very unusual for it to come off, so i think you should see your doctor, but till you can, use a different form of contraception such as condoms to make sure you are safe.

Remember that patches don't protect against sexually transmitted diseases.
You could look into different forms of contraception, such as the pill. Even though you have to take it every day, it isn't going to have problems like coming off in water.
There is also the injection, which has the benefit of stopping your periods, so you won't have period cramps.
