Missing Period After Stopping Birth Control: What to Expect

Question
so my girlfriend has been off birth control since april 09 and is now not having her period in august 09. she doesnt want to go to the doctor and im wondering if this is normal when women get off the pill? she is worried about not getting her period and we have done pregnancy tests which were negative and have used a condom since she was off the pill. just wondering if this is normal that she hasnt had her period since july and shes been off the pill since april. email me back at  cause i will get the response faster there than on here.

Answer
Sorry, I can only answer questions through this site.  If your girl friend had regular periods May, June, and July, then her missing August has nothing to do with the pill.  Some women miss periods sometime.  If she's not pregnant, it means she didn't ovulate.  Ovulation is what brings on a period 2 weeks later.  Not ovulating is common, and happens to every woman occasionally.  Often it's from stress, but can also be from illness, weight change, or other things.  Usually it takes care of itself in time, especially if the underlying cause is gone.  If she goes 3 months without a period, it's probably better that she see a doctor to figure out why she's not ovulating.  Best wishes.
