Oral Contraceptives: Starting Ovral-L & Protection Concerns

Question
i am 23 years old, i'm getting married in 18 days.
My doctor told me to take Ovral-l, starting from the first day of my period. But my periods ended 2 days back. I can't wait till my next period, neither can I take the risk of not taking the pill. Should I start taking the pill from today onwards? will i be fully protected? Are there any other alternatives?
And yes, my husband doesn't want to use condoms, neither am i looking forward to use diaphragms.

Answer
Hello Shikha,

Thanks for your question. I don't recommend any kind of hormonal birth control methods. The reason why is because the hormones are not healthy for your body and change your natural cycle. Is there a reason you don't want to have a baby? There is such a thing as Natural Family Planning or NFP. Have you heard of this birth control method? You can do a search online for more information or I can look for a link for you. Please email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and put ALLEXPERTS in the subject line. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl

P.S. Congratulations on your marriage!
