Post-Mirena Removal & Seasonique: Common Side Effects & What to Expect

Question
I got the mirena a year and a half ago. I recently got it removed about 4 weeks ago. The same day I got it removed, I actually started Seasonique. I haven't had spotting or a period. Is this normal? I also didn't have sex until the 3rd week of using Seasonique. My breast are very sore this week, especially my left. Is this normal? Or are my hormones messed up? I also wondered if not getting a period after the mirena removal was normal. I don't know when I should have one since I haven't for almost 2 years.

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Heather,

Please ask your doctor these questions. In my opinion, it is good that you got the Mirena IUD removed but I would not have recommended Seasonique. In my opinion, putting those hormones in your body could make your cycle abnormal. This could be why you don't have a period or why you have the other symptoms. You could get a free pregnancy test if you think that you might be pregnant. To find a center that would offer a free pregnancy test, you can go to this website
