Birth Control Options: Implanon vs. Depo Shot - Pros, Cons & Side Effects
QuestionSo my parents isnt going to know about my birth control because i'm too afraid to tell them. So what's the best form of birth control for me? I'm debating between the implanon or depo shot ; I'm a little nervous about the implanon & i'm scared I'll gain weight with the depo. Help me decide and give me some options please.
& what's the exact process of the implanon.? & can you possibly give me some advantages and disadvantages of both & tell me the side affects?
AnswerIt's very hard to say what is the best form of birth control for any woman. I would suggest that you use condoms as well, to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. Since you want something that's very effective (little chance of pregnancy), I think Implanon or the depo shot may be best. With either method, the main side effect is irregular bleeding, especially in the first 3-6 months. Weight gain can be a problem with the depo shot, and I believe is less of a problem with Implanon.
