QuestionHi. I am 19 years old and have been taking Necon 1/35 since January 2012. I have never missed a pill and take it within a one hour time frame if I do not take it right at 10am each morning.
My periods have been extremely light since I started, and mostly a light brown blood. I have lost about 12 pounds (went from 150 to 138) due to vigorous exercise and not eating enough due to stress from college, work, and home life.
I am in a relationship with my boy friend and we have had unprotected sex multiple times. He always pulls out. I know this is not an effective method since there is stuff in pre-cum, but the less the better. We did this about 2-3 weeks before my period date.
I missed my period last pack of pills (around July 1). I was very worried because of the un protected sex, so I took two pregnancy tests. One at night, and one first thing in the morning. Both were negative!
I am now due for my second period and am having my usual period symptoms (head ache, loose stool, cramps in lower abdomen and back, desire for chocolate) but am very nervous I won't get my period during this week of the inactive pills.
Do you think I am pregnant? I am aware this pill (necon 1/35) is a low estrogen pill so my lining is thinner, therefore decreasing the chance of getting a period... but I am just not ready for a baby at all.
What are the chances that I am pregnant? And what if I miss this period too?
Thank you so much for your time, I look forward to your response.
AnswerHi Olivia,
As long as you don't miss any pills, pregnancy is highly unlikely. Your negative pregnancy tests confirm that you're not pregnant. Some women don't have periods on the pill, and I think that's happening to you. The pill is still protecting you from pregnancy. If you prefer to have a period each month, I would ask your doctor about switching to a different pill. However, it's not harmful to not have periods on the pill, and some women prefer it.
