Depo-Provera Side Effects & Period Irregularities: What to Expect

Question
A brief history: I started using the depo-provera shot the first week in august the weeks before my period. It was my first time every using birth control. My period was about 2 weeks late then started. I am now I am almost on week 4 of my period. Its exhausting. I'm definitely not going back for my second shot the end of October because I've been having other side effects too like mood swings, blurry vision and insomnia. Anyway my question is, will my period finally stop anytime soon? It's getting expensive and I am just so tired of it. I've heard its normal to have crazy periods on depo and that I shouldn't be worried I'm just tired of it. Also do you think it would be better to get on the pill when I'm due for my next shot to re-regulate everything or is it better to just take a break from everything? Thank you so much for taking the time to read my question and I'll be hearing from you soon.

Answer
Dear Lindsay, Thanks for your question. I do not recommend any kind of birth control method which contains hormones. I believe that these hormones can cause side effects to your health. I would recommend taking a break from birth control if you can. Do you take it because of being sexually active or for another reason? Let me know. You can email me privately at CHERYL51@aol.com so hope to hear from you soon.
