Faint Positive Pregnancy Test After Abortion: What Could It Mean?
QuestionHi,
I had a medical abortion on oct. 25. I bled for about 3 weeks off and on. The bleeding stopped for a week or so then on nov. 24th I think I got my period because I had cramps just like my period cramps and it came on tuesday when it normally comes. However when I took a pregnancy test last week it still came up positive but with a faint line and also again today with another very faint line. It didn't show immediately either when the urine got in the test like it did when I first found out I was pregnant. So do you think I am still pregnant??
AnswerHi Crystal
Im really sorry about the late reply. After an abortion a pregnancy test can stay positive for up to 8 weeks afterwards. This is perfectly normal as it takes time for the HCG hormone to leave your body.
A positive test doesn not mean the abortion wasnt successful or that you are pregnant.
The only way I think you would be pregnant again would be if you have had unsafe sex.
I hope that this helped and take care, vanessa
