Post-Surgical Abortion Bleeding: What's Normal & When to Worry
QuestionHello, I was wondering if it was normal to bleed 3 weeks after a surgical abortion. By bleed I mean constant, having to wear a pad at all times. I'm not soaking them and there is no pain, its just like a light period 24/7. The blood is red and sometimes brownish with no clots. After the procedure I did not bleed for 3 days and then I started passing clots(small) and bleeding heavily, this was the only time there were clots.I'm just curious how long I should wait until I see my doctor and could this possibly be something serious or if it is normal and my body is doing what it needs to do to get rid of what may have been left inside. I week to my check up and they said it was normal and the bleeding should calm down but I'm scared to death because it has remained the same, not any better at all! Please help, I'm so concerned and can't eat or sleep thx
AnswerHi Noelle,
Thanks for your question. I've been getting more and more questions about prolonged bleeding after abortion. Other women are going through it too, and I can understand that would be scary. I really think at this point, you should call your doctor to see what he/she thinks. Try to calm down because you really need to get enough sleep and please eat! If you have any post abortion problems, you can email me for counseling. DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and put ALLEXPERTS in the subject line. I would like to hear from you.
Sincerely,
