Post-Abortion Bleeding: What to Expect After a Surgical Abortion

Question
hi, just 3 days ago (jan 12th), i had a surgical abortion (being 11 weeks) at my usual hospital and my ob-gyn dr. performed the surgery there. i haven't really bled at all since the 10pm that night of the surgery. (my surgery was done at about noon that same day. Tuesday January 12th, 2010) and i really didn't bleed much from the surgery, except immediately after, ( maybe 2 maxi pads-from the time i woke up, till i walked out the door) and that night i didn't even bleed enough for 1/3 of my pad size between 3pm and 9pm) since then i haven't bled!!! theres been i guess a faint blood color discharge enough for the color difference on white to be noticed --but not actual blood!!! along with that, I've barely had any cramping and when i do its very very faint; i hardly feel it and its only happened twice since the operation(they lasted less than 30 seconds.)

basically is that normal? the day i came home and the following day, i stayed in bed mainly, just sleeping. but the lack of bleeding really worries me.. along with no cramps (i haven't taken one Tylenol or Motrin IB or anything at all after the surgery because they're not needed) but the nurses told me to expect heavy bleeding and blood clots about the size of quarters  and that it will be completely normal, but the lack of that is worrying me. my body's doing the exact opposite. i had one of those clots pass when i used the rest room at the hospital after the surgery, but since then... nothing.
Is the lack of bleeding with in a day of that surgery normal? should i give it a few more days? or should i contact them asap?

Answer
Hello Aimee,

How are you doing now? Please let me know as I am a little worried about you. Sorry I was not able to get to your question sooner. I would like you to email me at CHERYL51@aol.com with an update. You will have to have a post abortion checkup if you haven't already. Hope to hear from you soon.
