Vaginal Odor and Itching After Abortion: Causes & Treatment

Dear doctor,
I had a medical abortion on the 27th January 2011 in the UK and presently stopped bleeding. However, I have noticed my discharge has a very bad odor to it and occasionally, i do have an itchy feeling on the outside of my vagina.
Have I contracted a infection?

Sounds like you may have bacterial vaginosis.  It is not a sexually transmitted infection.  You need to go have an examination to make sure. The treatment is metronidazole.  Also, you could have a yeast infection if you were given antibiotics. The only way to make an accurate diagnosis is to perform an examination and look at a sample of the discharge under a microscope.  A skilled clinician could make the diagnosis by the ways the discharge looks and the smell.  Bacterial vaginosis has a fishy odor and yeast causes a thick white discharge.
