Pantyhose & Pregnancy: Are They Safe?

Hi Roni,

I just have a quick question.  I was attending a wedding this weekend with my pregnant wife.  She was wearing pantyhose with her outfit that came up just below her breasts.  They weren't extra tight or anything.  Anyways, a friend's wife told my wife that she shouldn't be wearing pantyhose when she's pregnant, and acted as if it was a horrible thing to do.  I find that funny since this woman smoked throughout her entire pregnancy.  My wife is 6 months pregnant now.  So, the question is, will wearing pantyhose harm the baby?  Thanks-- Ryan

I do not know of any reason that pantyhose would harm anything, I think smoking would be MUCH worse.  
Go ahead and ask your Dr. but I think it would be fine.  Everyone has there old ideas of what is bad, you just have to learn to smile while you are tuning them out.
