Post-Surgical Abortion: Addressing Pain and Remaining Tissue

Question
Hello, I had a surgical abortion 1 week and 5 days ago. I was 11wks and 1 day pregnant. I bled for the first day and a half. The bleeding completely stopped. I went to work for 3 days and one the 3rd day I started have severe pain in my abdomen and cervix. I went to the Dr for an emergency visit and they said they did not see any infection, but put me on flagyl 500mg BID for 7 days and sent me for a pelvic sono. The radiologist said she saw tissue left in my uterus. I called the Dr immediately and she was not there after 4 days and about a 100 phone calls i got in. They said it was blood in my uterus, not pregnancy tissue. They gave me 3 misoprostol 200mg tablets and told me to take all of them at once. They said I would only have mild cramping from it. I took them yesterday and started to bleed within 30 minutes of taking them. The bleeding had now stopped and I am having a smelly thick brown discharge. I was not able to get out of bed yesterday because I was in so much pain. Today that felt better, but I still have pain in my cervical area and cramps (i know the cramps are expected). I don't know what to do. I am not trusting these doctors and I do want to have a baby in a few years when we are married.

Answer
It sounds like you passed all the clots.  The discharge is caused by Bacterial vaginosis.  The Flagyl will be an effective treatment.  Using the Misoprostol is a good option.  The other is to remove the tissue by repeating the procedure.  You do not have to worry.  You will need another US.  You can take Ibuprofen 800 mg for the pain.
