QuestionI am currently in school for massage therapy in Kansas City, MO. When I receive my first 500 hours I should be able to start working as a therapist in the area. By graduation I will have completed 1,200 hours and would like to move elsewhere, particularly to another country. Ultimately, my dream is to give massages on a tropical island in the South Pacific. I'm sure that is a dream for a lot of therapists but do you have advice to offer as to how I can find/create this opportunity for myself, even now while I'm still a student, and make this dream a reality? What steps should I take first? Are there contacts I can get in touch with from that area?
I realize this is probably not your area of expertise but if I don't ask then I may not find out!
Thank you.
Tom
AnswerThanks for your inquiry, Tom.
You're right...it is outside my expertise....However, since you are in the beginning stages of becoming a massage therapist, you might want to seriously consider getting involved with a Yahoo massage discussion group which has members exchanging ideas with experience that covers the spectrum from beginners to many years in the business. I recommend you join it (free) and pose your question there: Body_Work@yahoogroups.com . They have a world of knowledge.
I hope you can get your question answered there.
