Answer
Hi Again Molly!,

I will answer your revision question one by one.

Dysfunction of the nervous system
You need to be specific here. If its a condition like epilepsy, there are certain precautions to take before undergoing massage. The Patient must sign a consent form that indicates that a fit might occur during a session. Other nerve dysfunctions might cause pain in specific areas to be worked on. However these areas should be left out. There are no other particular precautions other than those specific to the clients' condition.

Prescribed medication
Again here, there are no contraindications to most prescribed medications EXCEPT Warfarin or Heparin which may cause the client to bruise easily.

Whiplash
When Whiplash occurs, tendons and muscles in the neck need a certain amount of immobility. Therefore, pressure and deep tissue massage in these areas could be very painful.

Acute rheumatism
Here again Joint pains in the acute phase of Rheumatism would be painful and the least one wants in this condition is heat due to friction which will make the condition worse.

Scar tissue
In recent scar tissue the skin has not fully bonded and it could take a few weeks to a few months to be able to massage depending on the depth of the wound. However there is no contraindication for fully healed scar tissue. On the contrary it has been show to be beneficial in cases of burn victims to help stretch tight areas of skin.

Muscle fatigue
There is no contraindication to massage in Muscle fatigue originating from excessive sports. ON the contrary massage will help eliminate lactic acid buildup from the muscles. One should however be cautious that there is no medical condition like Myalgic Encephalitis (ME) or other conditions which could be causing the fatigue. A short interview therefore is essential to rule out any long standing conditions which then could be cleared up by the GP.

Pacemaker
There is no contraindication for massaging a client with a pacemaker so long as the area where the pacemaker is inserted is left out of the therapy. It would be wise to get a clear to go from the patients' cardiologist/physician.

Should there be any further questions, do ot hesitate to ask!
