QuestionI am currently being trained by a very reputable certified nail technician, who owns her own shop, in Greece. I am only being trained in Manicures, Pedicures, silk wraps, and silk wrap extensions.
I am planning on moving to the state of Florida in a few months and want to work out of my home. I am NOT interested in learning or performing acrylic, uv gel, etc. I ONLY want to specialize in the silk applications. Do you know if I can become certified in just this. I would really like to avoid going to a school to become a certified nail technician learning all of the other methods. Any information you could provide me with would be helpful! Thanks!
AnswerHi Lisa!
You will not be able to learn and be certified in just ONE method of enhancement, and I would also HIGHLY recommend AGAINST it.
I am sure you have the best of intentions, but it really is in your best interest to learn ALL methods of nail application. You may have been incorrectly led to believe that silks are less harmful, more gentle, SAFER than other methods. And this is 100% wrong information. The only thing EVER harming a natural nail plate is a tech using aggressive filing and removal techniques. And going to a reputable beauty school is just the beginning. After graduation, it is also just as important to attend trade shows, and classes honing in on specific products and how to properly USE them.
