Troubleshooting Polish Removal & Longevity on Natural Nails: A Nail Technician's Guide

Question
I am a fairly new nail technician and am having problems with people keeping their polish on their natural nails.  I have tried different polishes but clients are calling saying that their polish is peeling within a few days.  I wipe down their nails with both polish remover and even dehydrate the nails before putting on a base coat.  Is there something else i can do?

Answer
Sue-
Ok, If you are removing oils with polish remover and then dehydrate them maybe its what your dehydrating with. Try polishing without that step. The polish remover should be enough anyway.

I recommend the following:
Be sure the nails are slightly rough and lightly filed.
remove oils with polish remover.
apply a base coat.
polish and topcoat.
Also recommend clients apply topcoat every other day to ensure long wear. Good luck
