DIY Manicure: Nail Prep & Base Coat Recommendations

I have long, strong nails of my own and would like to do my own manicures to save money.  I have purchased a dehydrant and a primer.  Should I use one?  Or both?  I can't find information about using a primer when NOT applying acrylic nails.  I just want to improve the duration of my manicure.  Also, what brand of base coat do you recommend?  Thank you

Hi Barbara-
I would recommend just using polish remover to dehydrate it will save you some money since it does essentially the same as a primer. I only recommend a primer with enhancements. Be sure to apply a top coat every other day as well. This will help prolong your manincure as well. I love Poshe or Seche Vite.
