Persistent Nail Lifting: Troubleshooting & Solutions

Question
I have 3 client who's nails keeps lifting after about 1 to 2 weeks and 1 most of the time comes completely off. I have tried just about everything on their nails, have bought and tried a few systems like NSI, IMN, B Range High Performance, Retention, etc. All have the same reaction. All my other clients do not have this problem. I have assessed and adjusted my prep and application. Same result. I am somewhat paranoid about cleanliness, so I always make sure everything is spotless so I can't even say it dust contaminating my products. I have even check my powders which I keep in smaller pots to avoid dust contamination and constantly filling up with new powder and my liquid is in a pump bottle so every time I dip into new liquid. I have even checked my primer for particles  and opened a new bottle just in case. I am now pulling my hair out and cannot blame my clients if they wanted to leave.
I have been doing this full time  for 15 years. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? Please help.
Thanks Diane

Answer
Hi Thanks for your question :) Firstly, I get the frustration, it can be a highly agitating experience, especially when having clients look at you, like you've done something wrong. But going off what you have written, it sounds like you are doing everything within your power to aviod it. So, my thinking would now be directed at these clients.

1. What do they do for work? Could this be causing the issues?
2. Do they submerse their hands in water for extended periods of time? Or is it done regularly?
3. Are their nails mistaken for tools (A VERY common, yet highly denied culprit)?
4. Do they use household cleaning products (including dishwashing detergent) without gloves?
5. Do they handle a lot of citrus (lemons/limes)?
6. What medications are they taking? - Heart medications can induce lifting.
7. Are they diabetic? Insulin can cause lifting.
8. Do they have hormone related issues?
9. Bacteria in the body can also be a culprit.

Now these are a major reason why taking an extended client history is vital, you can recognize possible issues that may present themselves before they happen or even be able to tailor your service more appropriately to a client when you are fully informed. Getting a detailed history also educates your clients that this information is important for you to know to ensure they have the best possible service from you and will alert them to the need to inform you of any issues should they arise after the first initial contact with you. Finally, it protects you. You can't be held responsible for something you were not made aware of , if you take a detailed history and something is not revealed (or later informed of) by the client.

Hopefully some of these options will resolve your problems - or at the very least, explain them. Good luck!
