Dry, Cracked, and Painful Thumbs After Nail Tech Work: Possible Causes & Solutions

Ive been a nail tech for 5 yrs but only natural nails and now the gelish polish system. Just within this last wk my thumbs skin under my nails free edge is becoming red cracked bloody and painful too. Im also getting tiny bumps that weep if I scratch them along my fingers and tops of thumbs. I looked at contact dermititis or dyshidrotic excema and they both sound like it. What do you think it is? Ive been using gloves since its cracked some and I maintain safety. Thank you so much

Holley, Thank you for visiting AllExperts.  I am not a doctor, but given the questions I have answered on this site about Gelac, Shellac and other gelish polish systems, my first guess is you are having a reaction to the polish system.  Read the questions on this site about this subject.  The only gelish program I would use, if I were to use one, would be by Jessica Nails.  It was published March 2012 Good Housekeeping, article title, "4 Risks of Gel Manicures" that Jessica Geleration had the best product, but cautioned that All the products must be considered regarding health before use.
