QuestionQUESTION: well i had long hair and cut it an had hilights on them then i used peroxide to blond it then i went to black an had to cut all the dead ends, but my hair is not growing as it used to and im full of split ends again, what can i do to make it grow and be healthy as it used to before all the dying?
ANSWER: Hello Sarah,
May I please ask you to clarify the exact sequence of what you did to your hair and if you did it yourself or had it done at a salon. For example, when you say I went to black, what does it mean? and when you did peroxide, was it on the whole hair or just the ends?
If you give me the right information, I should be able to help you.

Take good care

AnswerHello Sarah,
Before I go further and give you my opinion, I just want to tell you one thing: STOP trying to change the color of your hair.
Your hair has been badly chemically damaged by all the color treatments you've done on it. It's hard for me to evaluate precisely what is happening, but your hair might not grow well anymore for 2 reasons: either it became too brittle and breaks easily, while still growing at your roots; or the chemical treatments of bleaching and coloring have damaged your roots too. Anyone promising you to fix your hair is either a liar or someone having some pretty tough chemicals on hand (which you don't want given that your hair is now sensitized to chemicals and cannot take it anymore). Once a hair has been that much damaged, there's nothing real that can be done, except being patient and taking the best natural care of it. You have to wait for your hair to recover from the treatments you did and grow back from the roots. Try to see what kind of texture your new growth has. It should be strong and the original color. You may also want to get a hair cut which is going to make your hair look better while it's growing back (something shorter and maybe layered)
Now, you have 2 options, which can be run side by side:
1) you have to use the gentlest most natural (organic) shampoos you can find and do hair masks with Shea butter, Jojoba oil or Monoi oil. Meanwhile, eliminate processed and junk foods and sodas from your diet and switch to a vegetable and fruits rich diet. Drink water and green tea. That will help your hair to grow beautiful and strong from your roots.
2) you may want to try to "repair" products. They are based on some chemicals like silicone which coat your hair and make it artificially smooth and silky. They have something like this in Kerastase but also in John Masters products. Try and see which one works best for you.
You may also want to try clay hair and scalp detox. You can learn more about it here:

I know that's not what you'd like to hear, but I cannot lie to you and give you a fictive deceptive magic trick. I talk from experience because I went through the same misery as you are now: I did highlights on my hair, which ruined it for a few years. I tried everything my hairdressers advised me and nothing ever worked. From that point, I decided that I would never try to change the color of my hair anymore. I would also strongly advise you to find a really good and knowledgeable hairdresser, not someone who ruins your hair further.
Be patient, eat well, take essential fatty acids like primrose or borage or black currant oils for 3 months to help you hair grow back beautiful and shinny.
I hope you find this answer helpful.
