Hair Loss and Skin Issues: Seeking Medical Guidance - Case Study

Question
Dear Doctor,
Its a bit lengthy letter. Kindly help me from this problem. Its about rashes/acne/pimple.
Am 35 yrs old male from India. I was suffering from heavy Hair loss. My doctor prescribed me Minoxidil topical solution, even after using that for 2 months i found the hair loss was not under control. So i stopped using that and met another doctor, this doctor injected me kenacort 40 injection in my baldness, which is close to my fore head. And now the hair loss is under control. But the Problem now is, am having lot of Pimple type of Rashes which looks very ugly in my forehead. I met another skin specialist for this pimple (Its not a pimple actually, acne or rashes something happened due to allergy, am damn sure, but still not sure of what was am allergic of) The other doctor prescribed me clindamycin and phosphate gel, I used it for one month and the result is nothing... again i met another doctor who prescribed me Retino.0.025% ((Tretinoin) it works but results are pathetic... like this medicine heals, but again i found a new one, when ever I wash a face (Even without a soap) I see some rashes, after applying the medicine it looks better. But still am not satisfied with this treatment. Am using it for 2weeks but still, the rashes disappear and comes again, especially when i wash my face. Also I was prescribed salicylic acid. Kindly advice me, help me to get rid of this problem.
Thanks a million for investing your precious time.

Answer
Hello Balajee,

Before I start giving you suggestions to help you, please realize that I am not a medical doctor, but a PhD in Biology. If you want help from a medical doctor, you may ask for help from the allexperts dermatologists.
Here is a link to the possible side effects of kenacort: http://www.patientsville.com/medication/kenacort_side_effects.htm
So it looks like you're having a skin reaction to the injections. Your baldness is under control, but your skin is going crazy. I hope you have no worse side effect than the rash you describe. If you have fatigue or pain, please consult your doctor immediately. The antibiotic didn't work either because the bacteria is resistant, or because it's not a bacteria which is causing the skin problem. If tretinoin works, it means it's a type of non-infectious dermatitis. In short, your skin is a mess and it's a consequence of the anti-hair loss injections you've done.
Tretinoin is known to trigger skin inflammation, so what you're seeing is perfectly normal.
Given this complex picture, here is what I would recommend:
Use Wild Musk Rose oil (organic) on the rashes twice a day. It contains the active principle of tretinoin naturally, but doesn't have the side effects because it contains other natural ingredients. Twice a week, apply a clay mask on your face. If your skin isn't too dry, use green clay. Mix it with water and add a tbsp of Wild Musk Rose oil. If your skin is dry, use white clay and do the same. Leave the mask on for 10 min, rinse and moisturize. If the skin is really dry, use pure organic Shea butter as a moisturizer.

Another big part of your solution lies in doing a through detox program. If you can, get the book "Clean" by Dr Alejandro Junger. His program is 3 weeks, simple and very efficient. Not only detoxifying should help your skin (and hair by the way), but it will also make you feel much better as many of Dr Junger's patients have reported. Drink plenty of good water and good green tea even if you don't do the detox program. If this program is too difficult for you, you can find alternatives here:

Finally, there are some herbal compounds which can help you with your skin problem. I personally use Herb Pharm products as its a great company doing very high quality products and which has a tremendous knowledge of herbal medicine. They have a product called Dermal Health, see if you can get it, otherwise look at the ingredient list and find something similar at home. You may also want to consult an Ayurvedic doctor who will be able to help you with local herbs (it's always better).

I know how frustrating dermatitis can be so I do hope you feel better soon. You need to give time for the natural solutions I suggested to work as they don't work superficially, but from deep to surface.

I hope you find this answer helpful.
Have a beautiful day,
Take good care
